  • Key Characteristics

    Inherent Flame Resistance: E-glass is an inorganic material that does not burn. In its fabric form, it can withstand continuous operating temperatures of approximately 550°C (1,000°F) and peak temperatures up to 700°C (1,300°F).

    Electrical Insulation: The "E" stands for "Electrical grade." It has high dielectric strength, making it the primary material for insulating printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electrical enclosures.

    Cost-Effectiveness: It offers a superior balance of strength, durability, and low cost compared to S-glass or carbon fiber.


    Applications

    Aerospace & Automotive: Used for lightweight structural components, cargo liners, and heat shields.

    Electronics: Found in nearly all standard circuit boards, as well as emerging 2026 technologies like ultra-thin electronic glass fabrics for flexible wearables and smart devices.

    Industrial Safety: Manufactured into welding blankets, fire curtains, and protective clothing.

    Construction: Used in fiberglass mesh for reinforcing concrete and as insulation for HVAC systems.

    Marine & Sports: A standard material for reinforcing boat hulls, surfboards, and skis.

    Silicone: For weather resistance and flexibility in smoke curtains.

    Aluminum Foil: To reflect up to 95% of radiant heat in furnace insulation.

    Vermiculite: To increase abrasion resistance and heat durability for heavy-duty welding.
