FR PP webbing

"FR PP webbing" refers to Flame-Retardant (FR) Polypropylene (PP) webbing. While standard polypropylene is known for being economical and moisture-resistant, it typically has a low melting point (approximately 160°C or 320°F) and is highly flammable unless specifically treated.

Features

Flame Resistance: Unlike inherently fire-resistant materials like Kevlar or Nomex, polypropylene must be treated with chemical FR finishes to meet safety standards.

Water & Mildew Resistance: PP webbing is naturally buoyant, does not absorb water, and resists mildew and rot, making it ideal for marine or wet environments.

UV Protection: It offers natural resistance to UV degradation, helping it maintain color and strength when used outdoors.

Lightweight: It is significantly lighter than nylon or polyester, which is beneficial for portable gear.

Applications

Industrial Safety: Cargo strapping or fasteners where moderate heat resistance is required.

Outdoor & Marine Gear: Tents, bag straps, and boating equipment that may be exposed to sparks or open flames.

Automotive/Aerospace: Used for interior fasteners that must meet specific burn test certifications (e.g., FAA burn certificates).
